About BakeUp Baking Fish the Upright Way How to get the fish to bake evenly on all sides?

That was the question that created BakeUp. Having noticed that the fish on the bottom side actually cooks in its own juices (or marinade) rather than bakes, we turned the baking process upside down. Literally.

BakeUp is innovatively designed kitchen gadget that lets you bake the fish exposing it to heat evenly, without obstruction. No more soggy fish on one side.

The fish doesn’t need to be turned during the baking, oil is optional and the fish is aromatized from the inside. Since the fish never comes in contact with the liquid it releases, it will get crispy crust on all sides.

How it works? Easy Oven-Baked Fish in 6 Steps

Step 01

Make a cut

Make a 7-8-cm cut in the fish* belly and pull out the insides (but leave the head and gills on)

* BakeUp is suitable for fish approx. the size of the sea bass, gilthead seabream, European hake, larger pieces of chub mackerel, etc.

Step 02

Spice the BakeUp cup

Put the spices and herbs inside the BakeUp cup (salt, pepper, parsley, lemon, etc. and if you wish – oil). The cup is designed to let the heat circulate through it and release the aroma inside the fish

Step 03

BakeUp + Fish

Place the cleaned fish on the BakeUp

Step 04

Press, Press

Press and move the fish a bit so it doesn’t topple over (find the most stable position)

Step 05

In the tray we go, go, go

Place the BakeUp with fish (one or more) upright on the tray

Step 06

Bake the fish!

Bake the fish without turning for approx. 30 min on 180°C (360°F), but feel free to experiment with temperature and time settings
